Knowing Lucy and eli were waiting at the finish line helped me pick up the
pace during the last 4 miles. Though to be honest, Lucy didn’t really seem
that energized by my accomplishment. Many thanks to eli for getting up at
5am to get David and I to the race in Queens by 6:15!
Yesterday I ran a half-marathon, my fitness goal for 2009. It was kind of
fun!
The day couldn’t have been better- sunny, dry and temperatures in the 60s.
Standing beside me is friend David, who was also running his first
half-marathon.
Next goal- full marathon in 2010. Who wants to run with me?

Ok, this is Tasha being challenged to a push-up contest which she
enthusiastically accepted after enthusiastically draining the beer mug that
was in her hand. I think they did like twenty, but frankly I lost count.
This will be the moment when I confess to you that I still do push-ups with
my knees on the ground.
We had the perfect end-of-summer weekend in Hanover. As you can see, cousin
Allen had perfect weather for his evening nuptials with Tasha.

Just for variety, of course.
A digital photo memory card that contained hundreds of pictures from our
trip was frozen until recently. Here is a great picture from four months
ago, though it really feels like a lifetime ago. Pictured is an American
traveler we met in at our hostel in Nelspruit, South Africa, Manali. She,
myself and eli went on a day trip with a guide to the Blyde River Canyon
area- truly one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen.
…a.k.a. home. Notice the beginning of the ear-raising.
This is a pic of Lucy back in the late-August heat wave. She really enjoyed
hopping in the tub and cooling off in some cool water. We enjoyed how it
kept her from tracking Brooklyn park-and-sidewalk grime around the
apartment. She is enjoying the cooler weather and has started resisting the
post-walk paw rinsing routine. I guess I should have known it was too good
to last.
