JFK

We arrived safely back in New York on Tuesday the 23rd. It was probably the
smoothest flight of our whole journey. No turbulence and skies so clear
that you could still look down and see the North Atlantic half way through
the flight. There were also beautiful views of Labrador and the St.
Lawrence river as we approached the Canadian coast.

Best Book Store in the World!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Liz @ 5:24 pm

Well, best I’ve ever been to and I’ve been in many. Visit if you like books
and you find yourself in London- it’s on the Marylebone High Street. I
really should have taken an interior shot rather than one of the outside-
it’s a beautiful space and perfect for browsing.

Eli on the Millenium Bridge

You can see St. Paul’s cathedral and many construction cranes in the
background. We have been in London two days now and have been walking
everywhere. We have been blessed with great weather- cool and sunny. Today
is the Summer Solstice- we had sunlight coming in our window at 4am and
evenings stay light well past 11pm.

Eurostar

Yesterday we took the Eurostar high speed train from Paris to London. The
trip takes only 2 hours and 15 minutes! We noticed quite a few squashed
bugs on the nose of the train as we disembarked.

Dinner on Groix

Filed under: Uncategorized — Liz @ 11:57 pm

Here is a picture of Yan, Sam, Catrine and eli after an al fresco dinner at
Sam’s house. Though June can still be quite chilly, it was warm enough to
eat outside on this particular evening. Dinners on Groix can be very social
affairs. Often people are invited over for drinks and snacks at about 7 or
8pm. This dinner-snack hour has a name in French that I just can’t
remember. Also, it usually goes on for about 3 hours and then people
finally get around to eating dinner at about 10pm. This might be part of
the reason why, indeed, French women do get fat. That book that came out a
few years ago was just a silly lie.
Also, since this is our only picture of Yan, I’d like to mention that when
we were in Paris, he gave eli, eli’s mother and myself a ride around the
city in a big black Mercedes van-limo that made us feel like visiting
dignitaries. Thanks, Yan!
