Another activity eli and I enjoyed on our anniversary was a 6 hour walk on a
foot trail that follows the coastline of the island. We had aspired to
completely circumnavigate the island but gave in to the temptation to take a
shortcut to town for lunch before places closed for the afternoon.
(to us). We celebrated Bretagne-style by going out for cider and crepes.
We did a fine job with our savory buckwheat dinner crepes but couldn’t quite
make it through this banana and chocolate dessert number.
Every other store in the city seems to sell masks. A few had dramatic and
creative masks clearly made by talented artists, as demonstrated here by
Medusa.
Venice.
I should have posted these pictures about 2 weeks ago but you know how thigs
get. We had great weather while in Venice and enjoyed getting around via
vaporetto, the city’s water-based public tranport.
I have become a little lazy about taking pictures- my apologies! We had a
wonderful three days in Venice (thanks Kathy and David!) followed by an
eventful overnight train ride from Venice to Paris. We stayed for three
rainy but pleasant days in Paris and got to have some more QT with family as
eli’s mother and stepfather were in town. We’re now out on the island of
Groix off the coast of Brittany. I will try to get some pictures up soon as
it is pretty much one of the most beautiful places on earth. We went for a
six mile run yesterday on beautiful seaside paths and hope to get back in
good shape before retuning to NYC. eli wants his lungs to be ready to do a
145 mile bike event with his friend David in August.

Me with old stone wall and fortress in the city of Ston, Croatia. The wall
was built in the 14th Century to protect the isthmus from the Turks. A sign
said that at the time of its completion in 1333 is was the second longest
wall in the world after the Great Wall of China but a friend of Natasha’s
who works for the Tourist Board says that claim is “bullshit”.
