(deep thoughts by Liz Huston) After crossing the bay, we continued down to North Carolina. The ocean is chilly but refreshing, the company is great, and eli has, thanks to Joan’s mixology skills, developed a taste for Dark and Stormies.

We caught a 10:15 am ferry on the 7th and crossed the Delaware Bay to Lewes. We had our first exciting wildlife sighting- jellyfish! Big ones!
We had a relaxing Cape May evening with the Stuard/Joyce families. We felt very spoiled as dinner was courtesy of Mom-mom and Pop-pop, drinks courtesy of Aunt Kory and dessert courtesy of Cousin Andrew- thanks! We went to the boardwalk and played a few rounds of skee-ball and then got a good night’s sleep. As you can see, eli’s gotten quite good at packing up the van.
Many thanks to Sarah and David for helping us pack up the van and finally get on the road by our target time of 2pm so we could make it Cape May in time for dinner with the grandparents. Many crucial packing decisions had to be made. Somehow, a potted basil plant made the cut and is traveling with us as long as it has the will to survive.
